Tuesday 19th August 2008

On Tuesday morning, Year 8 students from Woodville High School participating in the Wiltja School Program toured Government House.

Later His Excellency the Governor visited TGR Biosciences Pty Ltd at Thebarton, as part of a series of visits to industry.

In the afternoon at Government House the Governor, as patron, and Mrs Scarce hosted an afternoon tea for the Lions Medical Research Foundation Inc at which the Governor presented awards.

In the evening Mrs Scarce addressed the gathering following the 2008 Annual General Meeting of the International Women's Day Committee of SA Inc at Multicultural SA, Adelaide.

On Monday evening His Excellency the Governor, as patron of the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia Inc, attended the opening of the Goyder Pavilion at a cocktail party at the Royal Adelaide Showground.

On Saturday afternoon His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of the South Australian Jockey Club Inc of which the Governor is patron, attended the "Irish Race Day" at Allan Scott Park Morphettville.

In the evening, as guests of M. André Cointreau, President, Le Cordon Bleu International, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the Le Cordon Bleu Graduation Gala Dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

On Sunday morning the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, received the Salute at the Vietnam Veterans' Day Parade and layed a wreath at the Memorial Service at Torrens Parade Grounds, as guests of the Vietnam Veterans' Association of Australia - South Australian Branch Inc.

In the afternoon at the Adelaide Town Hall, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the Anglicare Great Chefs of Adelaide Luncheon - Zest, as guests of the Archbishop of Adelaide.

Friday 15th August 2008

On Friday morning His Excellency the Governor met with Mr Andrew Fletcher, Chief Executive Officer, Defence SA.

Afterwards at the Adelaide Convention Centre, the Governor attended the Graduation Ceremony for Business, as a guest of the Chancellor of the University of South Australia.

In the afternoon the Governor received The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of Adelaide Mr Michael Harbison and Mr Jason Pruszinski, Manager, City Design, Adelaide City Council.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the Occupational, Health and Safety and Injury Management Awards Presentation Dinner, as guests of Self Insurers of South Australia Inc.

Thursday 14th August 2008

On Thursday morning His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Later in the morning the Governor received Mr D Klingberg AM, Chairman and Ms N Vincent, Chief Executive Officer of The Leaders Insitute of South Australia Inc at Government House.

In the afternoon at Government House the Governor was joined at a luncheon by Mr MF O'Brien MP and The Honourable Lea Stevens MP.

Later the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as guests of the Attorney-General's Department in conjunction with the Port Adelaide Football Club, watched the last game and then meet with students participating in the Aboriginal Power Cup at Alberton Oval.

Wednesday 13th August 2008

On Wednesday morning His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as part of their Vice Regal visit to northern Eyre Peninsula, undertook a tour of Aqa Oysters at Cowell. Afterwards, at Cleve, the Governor unveiled a plaque and officially opened the Scout Hall renovations and the new Sensory Garden created by the Playgroup and Li'l Gym supporters.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a luncheon and viewed exhibits at the Eyre Peninsula Field Day at Cleve, before returning to Adelaide in the evening.

Tuesday 12th August 2008

On Tuesday morning His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as part of their Vice Regal visit to northern Eyre Peninsula, undertook a visit to Lock Bowling Club, and to Mt Millar Wind Farm.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce visited Cowell Area School, followed by a tour of Cowell Electric Supply Pty Ltd, and the Jade Showroom.

In the evening at the RSL Hall, Cowell, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a Civic Reception hosted by the Mayor of the District Council of Franklin Harbour.

In the morning at the Women's and Children's Hospital, North Adelaide, His Excellency Mr Hieu Van Le as Governor's Deputy on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Lan Le, officially opened the Friends of WCH 16th Annual Conference.

Monday 11th August 2008

On Monday morning His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, as part of their Vice Regal visit to northern Eyre Peninsula, undertook a tour of the OneSteel Whyalla Steelworks Mine at Iron Duke, and afterwards visited Kimba Area School.

In the afternoon the Governor and Mrs Scarce toured the Emergency Service Operations at Kimba, and attended a luncheon at the Kimba Community Hotel hosted by the Mayor of the District Council of Kimba. Later the Governor and Mrs Scarce visited Wudinna Area School and joined community members for an afternoon tea at the Wudinna Community Club.

In the evening the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended a dinner hosted by the Chairman of the District Council of Le Hunte at Sturt's Restaurant, Wudinna.

Sunday 10th August 2008

On Sunday afternoon His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce departed Adelaide for a Vice Regal visit to the northern Eyre Peninsula.

The Governor has appointed the Lieutenant Governor, Mr Hieu Van Le, as Governor Deputy from 2:00 pm on Sunday 10th August until 6:30 pm on Wednesday 13th August 2008 during his absence on the Vice-Regal visit.

On Tuesday morning in Port Lincoln, His Excellency the Governor departed onboard the vessel Tucana for a visit to offshore aquaculture farms, visited the Australian Fisheries Academy Port Lincoln Campus training facilities, and undertook a tour of the Southern Waters Marine Products processing facility.

In the afternoon the Governor toured Tony's Tuna International Pty Ltd and inspected the vessel Tacoma, before returning to Adelaide.

In Adelaide at Government House, on behalf of His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce, His Excellency Mr Hieu Van Le, as Governor's Deputy and Mrs Lan Le hosted a luncheon for His Excellency Mr Yuval Rotem, Ambassador of Republic of Israel & Mrs Miri Rotem. Those who attended include Mrs L Scarce; Mr N Schueler, President, Jewish Community Council of South Australia and Ms A Rogers and Mr G Maguire, participants in the Governor's Leadership Foundation program.

In the evening the Governor, as patron of the Reserve Forces Day Council - SA, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception for Reserve Forces Day 2008.

On Monday morning, His Excellency the Governor departed Adelaide for a Vice Regal visit to the Eyre Peninsula aquaculture industry, commencing with a tour of the Cleanseas Tuna Ltd facilities at Arno Bay.

In the afternoon, the Governor toured the Southern Australian Seafoods abalone aquaculture facilities at Boston Point, followed by a tour of the Coffin Bay area, where he met with local oyster growers and toured the shore-based oyster grading and packaging facilities.

Later the Governor toured the Port Lincoln Tuna Processors (John West Tuna Cannery), and in the evening attended a dinner at the Port Lincoln Hotel hosted by Mr Hagen Stehr AO, Chair, Australian Fisheries Academy (of which the Governor is patron).

The Governor has appointed the Lieutenant Governor, Mr Hieu Van Le, as Governor Deputy from 9:00 am on Monday 30th June until 5:00 pm on Tuesday 1st July 2008 during his absence on a Vice-Regal visit.

In the evening at the West Torrens Civic Centre, Hilton, the Goveror, accompanied by Mrs Scarce, delivered a speech and presented awards at the 2008 Scholarship Presentation Ceremony, as guests of the City of West Torrens Max and Bette Mendelson Foundation.

Thursday 26th June 2008

On Thursday morning, His Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards at the City of Playford Civic Centre the Governor, as patron of Playford Pathways, presented awards to those instrumental in the development of the Flexible Learning Options program, and then attended a reception to acknowledge the roles of the City of Playford and Para West Adult Campus in the "Young Mums on the Move" program which received a leading practice award in 2007 from DOTARS.

In the afternoon, the Governor launched the University of South Australia's new course "Service Learning in the Australian Defence Force" at the Kerry Packer Civic Gallery, City West Campus, Adelaide.

In the evening at Government House the Governor, as Honorary Member of The Lions Club of the City of Adelaide Inc, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception for the presentation of the Lions Children of Courage Awards 2008.

Wednesday 25th June 2008

On Wednesday morning at Government House, His Excellency the Governor received The Honourable Jack Snelling MP, Speaker of the House of Assembly.

Later at Hillcrest, the Governor officially opened PARAQUAD SA's Ramsay Rebuild Project.

In the afternoon at Brighton the Governor, as patron of Minda Inc, addressed the gathering and presented certificates at the Graduation Ceremony.

Tuesday 24th June 2008

On Tuesday His Excellency the Governor, as patron of the Operation Flinders Foundation Inc, continued his field visit to the Operation Flinders Camp at Angepena Station, before returning to Adelaide.

In the morning, Year 6/7 students from Blair Athol Primary School toured Government House.

Monday 23rd June 2008

On Monday morning, His Excellency the Governor, as patron of the Operation Flinders Foundation Inc, departed Adelaide and undertook a field visit to the Operation Flinders Camp at Angepena Station.

The Governor has appointed the Lieutenant Governor, Mr Hieu Van Le, as Governor Deputy from 9:00 am on Monday 23rd June until 6:00 pm on Tuesday 24th June 2008 during his absence from the State.

Saturday 21th June 2008

On Saturday afternoon, His Excellency the Governor, as Honorary Air Commodore of the Royal Australian Air Force - No 24 (City of Adelaide) Squadron, viewed the Squadron's personnel in the course of their duties at RAAF Base Edinburgh, and in the evening at Torrens Parade Ground, the Governor and Mrs Scarce attended the annual Squadron Cocktail Party.

Friday 20th June 2008

On Friday morning, His Excellency the Governor and Mrs Scarce toured St Aloysius College in Adelaide.

In the afternoon Mr S Couche, Managing Director, Orlando Wines and Mrs S Couche, joined the Governor and Mrs Scarce for luncheon at Government House.

Later the Governor received The Most Reverend, The Archbishop of Adelaide Mr Jeffrey Driver, Archbishop of Adelaide and Dr L Arnold AO, Chief Executive Officer, Anglicare SA.

In the evening the Governor, as Deputy Prior, and Mrs Scarce hosted a reception to welcome senior officers on the occasion of the St John Ambulance Australia National Conference.
