Gourmet SA Masterclass with Adam Liaw
I am very pleased to be here with you at Gourmet South Australia featuring a South Australia Masterclass by Adam Liaw.
The Adelaide-George Town Sister City Relationship is a significant milestone between South Australia and Penang and contributes to the strength of the broader Australia and Malaysia relationship.
The cooperation and friendship we have shared since our founding connections underpin this longstanding bond.
Since the signing of the Adelaide-George Town Sister City Relationship, food has been a consistent ingredient - excuse the pun - in the friendship shared between Adelaide and Penang.
Typical Australian meals were provided at the evening barbeques during the first Adelaide Week in Penang in December 1975, which proved very popular with locals.
Both Penang and Adelaide are significant players in the food and beverage space.
Penang is famous globally for its street food, where cultural traditions of Malay, Chinese, and Indian food blend with modern influences to deliver unique experiences.
At this Gourmet South Australia Masterclass, we are very fortunate to be joined by Adam Liaw, a Penang born chef.
Who better to teach a cooking masterclass than a winner of MasterChef Australia!
The aim of this masterclass is to showcase the outstanding quality of South Australian produce that chefs, such as Adam, are eager to celebrate in their creations.
Adam prepared these dishes with the assistance of culinary school lecturers and students, demonstrating what can be achieved through cooperation and the sharing of knowledge.
The dishes cooked here today incorporate South Australian meat, seafood, and fresh produce into Malaysian cuisine.
The ingredients have been provided by South Australian business partners in attendance today, and can be purchased from AEON Supermarket at Queensbay Mall in Penang for the month of September.
