On Monday morning, Her Excellency the Governor continued her official visit to Port Pirie, where, at the Port Pirie Foreshore, she met Mr Leon Stephens, Mayor, Port Pirie Regional Council, and Mrs Debra Stephens, who accompanied her for the Australia Day Community Events. Events included the Raising of the Flags by State Emergency Service (SES) Volunteers and local Army Cadets, the Ecumenical Service, the Australia Day Community Breakfast, and the Beach Carnival, before departing Port Pirie for Adelaide.

Also in the morning, at Elder Park/Tarntanya Wama, Mr Bunten attended the Australia Day Council of South Australia’s ‘Mourning in the Morning’ Smoking Ceremony. The Governor is patron in chief of the Australia Day Council of South Australia.

In the afternoon, at the Torrens Parade Ground, Mr Bunten attended a 21-Gun Salute conducted by Australian Defence Force (ADF) saluting battery.

Later, at Elder Park, the Governor and Mr Bunten attended the Australia Day Council of South Australia’s Aus Lights Parade, and afterwards, the Aus Lights Official Ceremony.
