On Wednesday morning, at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Her Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mr Bunten, addressed the gathering at the 2026 Australia Day Council of South Australia Australian of the Year Breakfast. The Governor is patron of the Australia Day Council of South Australia.
Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor received The Honourable Nat Cook MP, Speaker of the House of Assembly.
Also in the morning, at West Beach, Mr Bunten viewed the Adelaide Sailing Club’s sand dune restoration project at Lot 101, followed by a morning tea.
Later, volunteers and past members of the Pakistani Association of South Australia toured Government House and were joined by the Governor for morning tea and a presentation of certificates of service.
Afterwards, the Governor received Mr Michael Abbott AO KC; Associate Professor Dr Martin Polkinghorne, Flinders University; and Mr James Bennett, Former Curator of Asian Art, Art Gallery of South Australia.
In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr Bunten received Mrs Marcia McLachlan, Honorary Consul of France, Consulate of France in South Australia; Ms Anne-Lise Heynen-Giri, Executive Director, Alliance Française d'Adélaïde; and Ms Laurence Autret, President, Alliance Française d'Adélaïde.
Also in the afternoon, at Union House, Mr Bunten attended the Children’s University Advocacy Board Meeting.
Later, the Governor received Mr David Wilkins MP, Member for Lee.
In the evening, the Governor hosted a reception to thank volunteer Board Members and sponsors of the Get Home Safe Foundation, of which the Governor is patron.
Afterwards, the Governor and Mr Bunten received Mr John Schutz, Chair of the Horticultural Committee, Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia and Mrs Annette Schutz, and Mr Brad Schutz, followed by a dinner. The Governor is patron of the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia.
