On Wednesday morning, Her Excellency the Governor departed for a visit to the Yorke Peninsula, where, at the Maitland Lutheran School, she met Mayor Darren Braund, His Worship the Mayor of the Yorke Peninsula Council; Mr Andrew Cameron, Chief Executive Officer, Yorke Peninsula Council; and Mr David Field, Principal, Maitland Lutheran School, addressed the students and toured the school.
Afterwards at Minlaton, the Governor, accompanied by Mayor Braund and Mr Cameron, toured the Southern Yorke Peninsula Community Childcare Centre.
At the Minlaton Town Hall, the Governor, accompanied by Mayor Braund and Mr Cameron attended a morning tea, hosted by Yorke Peninsula Leisure Options for National Volunteers week.
After a luncheon at Ye Olde Café Minlaton with Mayor Braund and Mr Cameron, the Governor met Mr Greg Hackett, Deputy Principal, Minlaton District School, and Master Joseph Rothe and Miss Madi Brunton, School Captains, toured the school and addressed the Year 10 – 12 students.
Later, at Minlaton, the Governor met Mr Brendan and Mrs Roxanne Phasey, Owners, Watsacowie Brewing Company, followed by a tour of the venue and brewing operations.
Afterwards, at Yorketown, the Governor met Mr Marty and Mrs Anne Collins, Owners, Rosevale Lentils, and received a briefing on farm operations.
In the evening, at Point Turton, the Governor hosted a dinner for members of the Yorke Peninsula Council. Attendees included Mayor Braund, Mr Cameron, Cr Tania Stock, Cr Richard Carruthers, Cr Michael O’Connell, Cr Trevor Clerke, Cr Kristin Murdock, and Cr Naomi Bittner.
In the morning, at Government House, Mr Bunten was interviewed for the Royal Adelaide Show Magazine.
During the day, community members from the Golden Grove Evening View Club toured Government House.
Her Excellency the Governor has appointed The Honourable Chief Justice Chris Kourakis to be Governor’s Deputy from 8am on Wednesday, 17 May 2023 to 4:30pm on Friday, 19 May 2023.
On Sunday 21 May, from 10am to 4pm, Government House and grounds will be open to the public to celebrate the Coronation and His Majesty The King’s connections with South Australia.
