On Wednesday, the Governor and Mr Bunten undertook a visit to the City of West Torrens, where, at the West Torrens Civic Centre, they met Mr Michael Coxon, Mayor, and Mr Angelo Catinari, Chief Executive, who accompanied the Governor and Mr Bunten during their visit.
Later, at the West Torrens Library, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Ms Celina Luya, Manager – Community Services, and Ms Carly Wilks, Team Leader – Library, toured the library, and attended a morning tea hosted by the Council. Afterwards, the Governor read the story ‘Somebody’s Land: Welcome to Our Country’ to children at the West Torrens Library Story Time.
Later, in Keswick, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Bunten, unveiled a plaque on the occasion of the naming ceremony of Karkunga Reserve.
In the afternoon, at the City of West Torrens Operations Depot, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr Chris McDermott, Manager – City Operations; Mr Dean Ottanelli, Manager – City Property; Mr Steven Mudge, Manager – Strategy and Sustainability, City of West Torrens; and Mr Adrian Rose, Managing Director, Solo Resource Recovery, toured the depot, including a presentation on Solo Resource Recovery’s hydrogen fuel-cell powered vehicle. Afterwards, the Governor presented the National Emergency Medal to Mr Raoul Brideoak and Mr Anthony Nicholls, in recognition of their participation in the 2019-2020 bushfires.
Later, at the West Torrens Civic Centre, the Governor and Mr Bunten attended a business luncheon hosted by the Council. Guests were Mr Coxon and Mr Catinari, Mr Rose, Mr Paul Della, General Manager – Corporate and Compliance; Ms Shanti Ditter, General Manager – Communities; Ms Michelle Kennedy, General Manager - Natural and Built Environments, City of West Torrens; Mr Peter Hurley AO, Managing Director, Hurley Hotel Group; Ms Alicia Bickmore, Executive General Manager – Corporate and General Counsel, Adelaide Airport Limited; Mr David Shipway AM, Managing Director, B.L. Shipway, Ms Kate Anderson, Chief Executive Officer, West Beach Parks; and Mr Justin Woods, Plant Manager – Marleston, Arnott’s, before returning to Government House.
In the evening, the Governor hosted a reception to thank supporters of AnglicareSA.
Also in the evening, at The Sanctuary Adelaide Zoo Function Centre, Mr Bunten attended the Fond Farewell and Welcome Cocktail Party. The Governor and Mr Bunten are joint patrons of the Royal Zoological Society of SA (Zoos SA).
Afterwards, at Penfolds Magill Estate, the Governor and Mr Bunten attended the Gather Round Welcome Dinner, hosted by the Australian Football League (AFL).
During the day, students from Pembroke School toured Government House.
