Dinner for the Governor of Chungcheongnam-do
Your Excellency, I am pleased to welcome you and your delegation to Government House Adelaide.
It is my pleasure to return the warm hospitality you showed me during my visit to Chungcheongnam-do in 2023, and to continue our productive conversation in areas of mutual interest.
Our regions have enjoyed long and productive ties, and in 2025 we celebrate 26 years of our Sister City Relationship.
Our fruitful relationship in the food and wine sector continues to strengthen.
‘Vinarchy’ – one of the world’s largest wine companies, formed this year by the merger of Accolade Wines and Pernod Ricard and based in South Australia - has identified Korea as a priority market, and Thomas Foods has led our state’s growth in meat exports.
The renewable energy sector is another area with great potential for enhanced cooperation.
I note Your Excellency’s role as the Asia-Pacific region co-chair for the Under2 Coalition, of which South Australia is an active member.
Our state is also proud to host hundreds of South Korean students in our education institutions. We are keen to see these numbers return to pre-pandemic levels.
And I was delighted, only earlier this evening, to welcome to a reception here at Government House, four representatives from your province who are in Adelaide to compete in the 2025 Santos Rugby Wheelchair Challenge.
Friends,
I trust you will enjoy your time in Adelaide, including site visits to Hydrogen Park South Australia, Parliament House, and the South Australian Museum.
I thank you for visiting South Australia and I look forward to our relationship going from strength to strength into the future.
