I am pleased to join you today, a community of leading Indonesian wine importers, distributors and association members, to talk about South Australia’s premium wine industry, and what we have to offer you.
Indonesia’s rapidly urbanising population is driving sustained demand for quality food. South Australia’s export capability and high food security standards can reliably support meeting this demand.
Complimentary agricultural produce, coupled with South Australia’s proximity to Indonesia, helps to ensure food security and produce quality, while also maintaining price stability, particularly in times of global uncertainty.
We know that Indonesian consumers are shifting towards a healthier, cleaner lifestyle, which aligns with South Australia’s provenance.
The Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement underpins trade opportunities between our regions, and South Australia proudly produces some of the world’s finest food, wine and beverage products.
The food, wine and agriculture sector remains a cornerstone of South Australia’s merchandise exports to Indonesia.
South Australia’s wine is world-class, with its capital city, Adelaide, a member of the prestigious Great Wine Capitals of the World.
Today will showcase some of our premium wines which are world-renowned for their quality, traceability and sustainability.
South Australia is a leader in viticulture and winemaking innovation, from advanced vineyard management and precision winemaking to packaging, logistics and supply chain sustainability.
The South Australian Research and Development Institute is known for increasing the productivity, adaptability and economy of South Australia’s primary industries.
Adelaide University’s Waite Campus is home to the largest concentration of agriculture and wine research and teaching expertise in the Southern Hemisphere.
South Australia is also the national leader in Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, the industry’s official sustainability program for grape growers and winemakers.
Conclusion
Together, South Australian and Indonesia can create real win-win outcomes, boosting trade, creating jobs and driving innovation in our food, wine and beverage sectors.
Our two regions have a strong trade and investment relationship built over many years, and we are keen to advance this in the wine sector.
