On Monday morning at Government House, Her Excellency the Governor received the Honourable Peter Malinauskas MP.

Later, the Governor and Mr Bunten departed for a visit to Coober Pedy and were met on arrival by Mr Michael Edgecomb and Mr Des Roffey of Cooper Pedy Together.

In the afternoon, at the Aboriginal Family Support Services Youth Shed, the Governor and Mr Bunten met with community members at a welcome luncheon, followed by a tour of the facility.

Afterwards, the Governor and Mr Bunten undertook a tour of opal claims Olympic and Diggers Gully, with owners Mr Justin Lang and Mr Brett Smith.

In the evening, at the Coober Pedy Drive-In, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Bunten, addressed the gathering and met with members of the local community at a ‘Get-Together’ event.

Her Excellency the Governor has appointed The Honourable Chief Justice Chris Kourakis to be Governor’s Deputy from 11:00 am on Monday, 22 May 2023 to 5:30 pm on Wednesday, 24 May 2023.
