On Monday morning, the Governor departed Adelaide for an official visit to Whyalla, where she met over breakfast with Mr Phill Stone, Mayor, and Mr Justin Commons, Chief Executive Officer, Whyalla City Council.
Later, at Whyalla Secondary College, the Governor met Ms Tricia Richman, Principal, and Ms Christina Nicholas, Deputy Principal, followed by a discussion with student leaders.
Afterwards, at Samaritan College, the Governor met Mr Jon Cenko, Principal, Mr Terry Costello, Business Manager, Ms Tanya Gibson, Head of Campus, and Year 11 Leaders Dana Free and Bodhi Hughes, followed by a discussion with students.
Later, at the Whyalla City Council, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Stone and Mr Commons, the Governor met community representatives and received a briefing on council.
In the afternoon, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Stone, Mr Commons, and the community representatives, undertook first a bus tour of the Central Precinct and Whyalla Foreshore, including the proposed new SA Ambulance site, potential redevelopment of Civic Centre, TAFE SA – Jobs and Skills Hub, new Civic Playground, and potential housing real estate; and, afterwards, bus a tour of Point Lowly, including Industry Drive, the Hydrogen Jobs Play site, Dive Site, Point Lowly project sites, and the Whyalla Maritime Museum.
In the evening, the Governor returned to Adelaide.
