Her Excellency the Governor has appointed Dr Richard Harris SC OAM to be Governor’s Deputy from 12:00am on Thursday, 16 April 2026 to until 4:20pm on Saturday, 18 April 2026.

On Thursday morning, in Jinan, Her Excellency the Governor witnessed the signing of a Higher Education Innovation Partnership between Flinders University and Shandong University.

Afterwards, the Governor launched the 2026 Education Dialogue between South Australia and Shandong, including the announcement of a Principals Dialogue and a Student Exchange Program.

Later, the Governor and Shandong Vice Governor Sun Ximin planted a tree in Quancheng Park, Jinan. The Governor was later interviewed by Shandong Net.

Afterwards, the Governor was hosted at lunch by Mme Chen Baiwei, Director-General of the Shandong Foreign Affairs Office, together with senior representatives of the Shandong Government, for discussions about the green economy.

In the afternoon, the Governor departed Jinan for Yantai.

On Thursday morning, at Government House, His Excellency Dr Richard Harris SC OAM, as Governor’s Deputy, presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.
