On Thursday morning, Her Excellency the Governor presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor and Mr Bunten visited the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium.

Later, at Government House, the Governor, who is Patron of the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies – South Australia, received Mr Mark Bourchier OAM, the Institute’s President.

In the afternoon, at Government House, the Governor received His Excellency Mr Ryūta Ibaragi, Governor of Okayama, and, afterwards, hosted a luncheon for His Excellency and members of his delegation including Mr Hiroyuki Ogura, Speaker, Okayama Prefectural Assembly and Mr Junji Shimada, Consul‑General of Japan in Melbourne. Guests also included The Honourable Nick Champion MP, Minister for Trade and Investment; The Honourable Steven Marshall MP; Mr Chris Wood, Executive Director, Invest SA; Professor Jennie Shaw, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic), University of Adelaide; Ms Jane Johnson, Chief Executive, StudyAdelaide; Ms Alicia Bickmore, Executive General Manager, Adelaide Airport Limited; and Mr Nick Jones, Executive Director, South Australian Tourism Commission.

Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor, who is patron of the Australian War Widows (SA), hosted a reception to commemorate Australian War Widows Day 2023.

Also in the afternoon, at Vault91, Mr Bunten, who, together with the Governor, is joint patron of the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation, attended the Foundation’s Impact Unlocked event.

In the evening, at Parliament House, the Governor attended the annual President of the Legislative Council’s dinner.
