On Tuesday, Her Excellency the Governor and Mr Bunten continued their official visit to the Lower and Mid North Regions, where, in the morning at Port Broughton Area School, they were welcomed by Mr Scott Moore, Principal, and Ms Megan Harris, Chair – Governing Council, followed by a conversation with the students.
Afterwards, at Barunga Village, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mrs Leonie Kerley, Mayor; and Mr Paul Simpson, Interim Chief Executive Officer, Barunga West Council; and Ms Julie Norman, Chairperson, and Ms Elizabeth Carrol, Chief Executive Officer, Barunga Village, followed by a morning tea with residents.
Later, at the Port Broughton Visitor Information Centre, the Governor and Mr Bunten met with volunteers Mr Timothy Doult and Ms Michelle Star, followed by a tour of Gallery 1871.
Afterwards, at the Port Broughton Jetty, the Governor and Mr Bunten, accompanied by Mrs Kerley and Mr Simpson, met Barunga West Council Councillor Margaret McDonald, toured the Civic Square Development, was briefed on the Civic Square Development Nharangga Totem Art; and the Wawi Buldu Walk by Mr Michael Wanganeen, President, Nharangga Aboriginal Progress Association.
In the afternoon, in Bute, the Governor and Mr Bunten, accompanied by Mrs Kerley and Mr Simson, toured the Bute Silo Art, before returning to Government House.
Later, at Government House, the Governor and Mr Bunten hosted a reception for John Monash Scholars. The Governor is patron of the General Sir John Monash Foundation.
In the evening, at Parliament House, Mr Bunten attended the Middleback Beefsteak and Burgundy Club Dinner Meeting.
