On Monday morning in Phnom Penh, Her Excellency the Governor met H.E. Mr Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia. The Governor was accompanied by His Excellency Mr Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador; Ms Jane Johnston, Chief Executive, Study Adelaide; Professor Romy Lawson, Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor, Flinders University; Professor Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Adelaide University; and Commissioner Cameron Baker, Chair of the South Australian Skills Commission.
Also in the morning, accompanied by the Ambassador, the Governor met H.E. Dr Chea Serey (University of Adelaide 2021), Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and H.E. Ms East Sophea (Flinders University 2004), Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Later, at the National Assembly, the Governor met H.E. Ms Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly. In addition to the previous Australian attendees, also present were Ms Michaela Bensley, Chief Executive, SACE Board; Mr Taliessin Reaburn, Department of State Development; Mr Andrew Williamson, TAFE SA; and Ms Narelle Slivak, Department for Education.
Afterwards, at the Hyatt Regency, the Governor, who is patron of StudyAdelaide, addressed the guests and presented awards at StudyAdelaide’s Spelling Bee Awards Ceremony, following which she addressed the guests at a StudyAdelaide Women in Leadership event.
In the afternoon, the Governor visited the Australian charity Sight for All, co-founded by former Lieutenant Governor Dr James Muecke.
Afterwards, at the Australia Cambodia Education Academy (AusCam), the Governor met education representatives and addressed the guests at a welcome event.
In the evening, the Governor met H.E. Mr Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport; and afterwards, H.E. Mr Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology.
Also in the evening, at the Ambassador’s Residence, the Governor attended a reception hosted in honour of her visit by Ambassador Yip, after which she departed for Hanoi.
On Monday evening, at Government House, His Excellency the Governor’s Deputy hosted a reception to thank volunteers and supporters of Resthaven.
