On Tuesday morning, Her Excellency the Governor and Mr Bunten continued their official visit to the District Council of Mount Remarkable, the Flinders Ranges Council, and the Outback Communities Authority, where, at Quorn Area School, they met Mr Andrew Gilsenan-Reed, Principal, and Mr Chad Ko, Deputy Principal, and held a discussion with students, followed by a tour.

Afterwards, at the Quorn Pioneer Machinery Society, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr Julian Hipwell, Councillor, Flinders Ranges Council, and President of the Machinery Society, followed by a tour and briefing of the society, before departing for Hawker.

Later, at the Hawker War Memorial, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr Ian Carpenter, Councillor, Flinders Ranges Council, followed by a tour and a briefing on Hawker’s wartime history.

In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr Ken Anderson, Mayor, Flinders Ranges Council, followed by a luncheon at Flinders Food Co, hosted by the Flinders Ranges Council.

Afterwards, at the Jeff Morgan Gallery, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr Jeff Morgan OAM, artist and owner, followed by a tour of the gallery.

Later, at Hawker Area School, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr Daren O’Neill, Principal, and Ms Sharon Lam, B1 Wellbeing Leader, and briefly toured the school before meeting Ms Annette Hill, SRC Teacher Leader, and Master Paul Haywood, SRC Student Leader, and holding a discussion with students.

Afterwards, at the Cradock War Memorial, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr Maurie Burke and Mrs Maggie Burke, Volunteers, Flinders Ranges Council, followed by a tour of the memorial, before departing for Parachilna.

Later, the Governor and Mr Bunten toured Parachilna including The Prairie Hotel and Outback Lodge’s new airstrip.

In the evening, at The Prairie Hotel, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mrs Jan Ferguson OAM, Presiding Member, and Ms Janelle Greatbatch, Executive Officer, Outback Communities Authority, before hosting a dinner for representatives from the Outback Communities Authority, Blinman Progress Association, the Department for the Environment and Water, Nilpena Ediacara National Park, and local business owners.

Her Excellency the Governor has appointed The Honourable Chief Justice Christopher Kourakis to be Governor’s Deputy from 12:00am on Tuesday, 14 October 2025 to 7:00pm on Friday, 17 October 2025.


In the evening, at Government House, His Excellency The Honourable Chief Justice Christopher Kourakis, as Governor’s Deputy, hosted a reception to celebrate Palliative Care South Australia’s 40th anniversary. The Governor and Mr Bunten are joint patrons of Palliative Care South Australia.
