On Wednesday, Her Excellency the Governor and Mr Bunten undertook a visit to the City of Walkerville, where, at the Walkerville Civic and Community Centre, they met Ms Melissa Jones, Mayor of the Town of Walkerville, and Dr Andrew Johnson, Chief Executive Officer, who accompanied the Governor and Mr Bunten during their visit.
Afterwards, at the Council Chamber, the Governor and Mr Bunten met elected members, council staff, members of local service clubs and community groups, community members, and students from St Andrew’s School, St Monica’s Parish School, Vale Park Primary School, Walkerville Primary School, and Wilderness School for a roundtable discussion, followed by a morning tea provided by local businesses The Coffee Institute and The Caterers.
Later, at Room 1855, the Governor and Mr Bunten met members of the Knitting Group, before meeting Community Committee Members, for a briefing and a viewing of the Miniature Christmas Pageant in the Town Hall.
In the afternoon, at the Myunggidja Adjika Bush Uses Track, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Aunty Elaine, Traditional Ecological Knowledge Educator, Warringga Committee Member and Kaurna Elder; Auntie Leanne Williams, Buandig/Booandik and First Nations Woman; Mr Neville Bonney, Ethnobiologist and native plant expert; Ms Teresa Shepherdson, Teacher, Walkerville Primary School, and students; and
Walkerville Bushcare Garden volunteers.
Afterwards, at The W: Walkerville Recreation Centre, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr James Kelly, General Manager Assets and Infrastructure, Town of Walkerville, for a tour and briefing on Council’s major projects tour on Smith Street.
Later, at the Walkerville Bowling and Community Club, the Governor and Mr Bunten met Mr Richard Murrie, President, Walkerville Bowling and Community Club, where they viewed the home game, followed by an afternoon tea with members, before returning to Government House.
In the evening, at St Mark’s College, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Bunten, officially launched the Centenary History of St Mark’s College.
